How to Encourage Wild Birds to come into Your Garden Find out How you can look after garden bird visitors and provide the right foods and shelter. How is your friendly garden Robin doing this year? Mine is very busy finding tasty insects as well as visiting us while we are weeding the herbaceous border and soft fruit cage areas. Both the Robin and Blackbirds were flitting backward and forwards from the fence to nearby bushes and amongst the disturbed rotting leaves and cut back plant vegetation. My children love watching them and today we saw great tits, coal tits, and a heron to add to the excitement in the field at the end of the garden.
We've found that in recent years the mild winter weather has meant that we have seen fewer birds coming to our feeder near the house. However, the local sparrows, blackbirds, starlings, jackdaws, robins, blue tits have taken full advantage of the seeds, nuts and scraps during the Autumn season to build reserves ready for the harsher weather to come. It's always interesting to see them really stocking up when colder wether is on the way predicted by the Met office. Every so often the sparrows and starlings descend on our seed feeder and eat all the best seeds. It's fun to watch the birds picking out certain tasty ones and just dropping the rest into the bush below. Garden Bird Supplies meet the demands of all bird lovers. They supply a range of goodies from garden bird seed, hanging bird feeders, nest boxes to pictures and descriptions in books about your regular garden bird visitors. We love watching our sparrows, robins, blue tits, blackbirds, starlings and jackdaws on our bird table outside the kitchen window. It's great to get the occasional surprise visitor too like green and gold finches and song thrushes. In the summer we have local group of swallows, swifts and house martins that seem to make the long migration trip every year. You can get all your bird food, feeders, birdbaths, bird tables and related products delivered direct to your home from "Garden Bird Supplies" To find loads more bird feeders, both hanging and fixed for all types of seed and nut items. Some even protect the contents of the bird feeders from greedy squirrels and larger birds. There's great bird feeding products and ideas by using the "Next" button at the bottom of the display panel below to see additional items. There are also products to encourage squirrels as well as food for them in special hangers. A range of ingenious nest boxes with special protection for the entrances will help protect the young from a predator such as a woodpeckers!
Why not click through to the Garden Bird Website to get your own copy of the Garden Bird Feeding Guide. Find out what to feed to which type of bird! Make sure that you add any suitable scraps from your table to the bird table to help add to the variety of food types to suit a range of birds. granary bread, bacon rind and fat, sausages, minced meat scraps all get quickly eaten by our own wild bird visitors. Don't forget to make sure that your feathered friends have plenty of water to drink right through the year in a birdbath or pool of fresh water. All birds will enjoy it and always need plenty of water available both in the Summer and Winter to drink and bathe their feathers in. This is especially important when the weather is very hot and there are few puddles around or during very cold spells when natural water pools are frozen. The birds will entertain you when using the bird bath for drinking as well as for splashing around in while cleaning their plumage. You could try to encourage some of the more common garden birds to nest in your garden by providing them with a suitable bird nesting box fixed in the right place. Preferably reasonably well hidden, securely attached and out of direct sunlight. If you don't see what you need here try going to the Garden Bird Website using the main display link higher up the page so that you can view their whole range of bird nest boxes and related items.
