Garden Designing Plans, Ideas & Examples

All of our designs create landscaped areas to give you maximum leisure and pleasure while trying to fit sensible but creative ideas within your budget. (Not always a very easy task!)

Simply maintained patios, pergola's, water features, planting and screening. Endeavouring to blend the style of the landscape with the buildings and their surrounding environment.

From small courtyard town garden to a large country house in a formal, traditional or modern concept whether an English Cottage Garden, Wildflower Meadow, Japanese or Italian Renaissance style.

Important lifestyle fixtures & features are created for easier garden maintenance. We can advise about and source if required, suitably designed accessories. These may include wonderfully relaxing spas, seats, secluded corners, garden rooms & arbours.

Example 1

This garden for a new house is typical of the area that we have to deal with on new housing estates. Our clients have a small child and wanted an area of decking outside the lounge and kitchen virtually level with the access doors. A large lawn for a play area but with some planting interest to screen large expanses of fencing and brick walls. The seating in the corner was an interesting focal point and made a nice sunny evening spot to have a cosy drink. Paving slabs set into the lawn provide easy, dry access to the garden shed and garage.

Example 2

Again this is a property on a small housing estate. The house was being extended and the existing patio area would disappear as a result. We removed an established conifer hedge at the top of the garden and replaced it with a new close-board, scalloped top fence. This gained us about 90cm of garden space. We retained some existing plants on the side fences and provided the client with a planting position and "wish list" for them to source and plant up after we had finished the ground works. A new extended patio with a curved edge finished with wide slabs at lawn level for a seating bench. New curved steps up to the gravel path that leads to a seating circle to catch the sun. A crescent of plum colour slate chips on weed screen membrane provides an interesting contrast between the green lawn and the gravel path.

Example 3

Here is a typical garden design for a small, nearly square, rear garden that is almost level. The area needed upgrading with a new patio, additional seating area, ease of maintenance, screening from newly erected houses at the back and dog friendly. Before and after pictures will follow. Click on the picture to open the plan in a new screen and to see more detail.

Example 4

This is a small sketch for a proposed front garden in a traditional style to blend with a Victorian brick built house. There were existing wrought iron railings on a low wall at the front and as usual an awkward shape to fit the small formal shape into. The existing paths were of poor quality concrete and new coloured brick pavers would be in scale and keeping with the new style.

The following plans are a selection of projects taken from our recent work to illustrate the type of garden design schemes that we can offer you. All of our drawings are done in the traditional way on a drawing board by hand. If you click on the pictures you should be able to see a larger version in more detail.
